What We BELIEVE

Our core values and doctrine

"Deeply rooted Christians reaching into our

community and world, to bring glory

to our God and his love to all mankind."

GOD THE FATHER

There is one true and living God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  God is the Creator of all life who sustains and governs all things according to His sovereign will.

GOD

The

FATHER

JESUS THE LAMB OF GOD

The Lord Jesus Christ came to earth as God’s son.   We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, the reliability of His miracles, the authority of His teachings, His sufferings and atoning death (i.e. His death on the cross was sacrificial, bearing God’s punishment in place of us), His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven and His priestly intercession for His people.

JESUS

The

LAMB OF GOD

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the personality and divinity of the Holy Spirit, sent from heaven to glorify Christ.  The Holy Spirit convicts sinners, imparts spiritual life and gives a true understanding of the Scriptures.  The Holy Spirit empowers all believers for worship, service and ministry

HOly

SPIRIT

ETERNAL LIFE

We believe that mankind was originally created sinless but tempted by Satan, man fell from God’s presence and thereby brought the whole human race under the judgement of God.    Individuals are ‘saved’ only through repentance (seeking forgiveness and change) and faith (trusting in Jesus as your saviour).

Eternal LIFE

COMMUNION

The Lord’s Supper (Communion) commemorates Christ’s sacrifice offered once and for all and, like baptism, is provided by God for our good.

COmmunion

BAPTISM

Believers’ baptism is symbolic and does not impart spiritual life.  However, it is the required testimony of faith

OF FAITH

oUR

pURPOSE

Here’s our vision statement in more detail, which gives a pretty clear view of our purpose as a church.

To see our church honouring God through a vibrant and growing church family.

To be rooted in the Bible and in prayer, united in our love for God and our care for each other.

To be effective disciples of Jesus, with every member empowered by the Holy Spirit, discovering and using their spiritual gifts.

To see God’s kingdom expanding and flourishing in our neighbourhood and beyond.

To reach out to our community, providing help and support to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Network

While we have close links with the other churches in Enderby, as well as other churches in Leicester, we also see the need to belong to something bigger than ourselves.

We are part of the Ground Level Network of churches.

Ground Level is a network of nearly 100 churches coming together through regional and relational connections. Ground Level exists to equip, support and care for churches and ministries.

Ground Level is seeking to have a growing influence for good in our nation, affecting society in any positive way we can. We believe that the church is to be a prophetic voice that models Word and Spirit along with Relationship and Kingdom.

We are also a member of the Evangelical Alliance.

THE

TEAM

"Christian leadership has more to do with caring than anything else. The Bible word ‘pastor’ really means ‘shepherd’. Our church leaders, trustees, and Life Group leaders are very gifted and influential people who are deeply committed to helping and nurturing the people who are under their care."

Chris & Pam

Pastor/Eldership

Chris Thomson, our pastor, came to Enderby years ago as a missionary from America and has seen our church grow from humble beginnings. Chris is a respected Bible teacher and conference speaker.  Chris and Pam have two grown-up children.

Leadership Team

Chris & Pam are supported by a wider team of gifted leaders who share in the decisions that steer the direction of the church.  They are David & Julie Banton, Andy & Jill Briars, Jonathan Briars, Rhianna Briars, and Chris & Katrina Clark.

Life Group Leaders

Our Life Group leaders are Karen Smith & Fay Tuttle, Chris & Pam Thompson, and Roger Berrie. Chris & Katrina Clark also run a Freedom in Christ course annually.

Trustees

There is also a team of dedicated trustees who oversee the running of the church, with a view towards legalities, the Charity Commission, and financial accountability.  They are Andy Briars, David Banton, and Karen Smith.
